Our Program

Wildlife Neighbors is a no-cost, informal STEM education program for middle school students (grades 6-8) living in the Detroit area. The program moves through 8 modules that follow the scientific process, provide hands-on research experience, and offer participants the opportunity to contribute to research happening in their city.

The program will be offered in 3 different formats to provide more accessibility and to address our research on efficacy. The participants in all formats will learn about the same topics and practice the same set of skills.

The Applied Wildlife Ecology (AWE) Lab is a diverse team with a passion for carnivores, conservation, and community. Our work focuses on the relationship between carnivores, their prey, and the ever changing environment.  At the AWE Lab, we believe that authentic, rigorous research can only be accomplished with the involvement and support of the community.
