Asynchronous Virtual Model
The asynchronous, virtual model will be the first version of Wildlife Neighbors to launch. Program participants will be provided with all the supplies necessary to complete the Wildlife Neighbors curriculum online. Through a series of video lessons and hands-on activities, students will learn how urban ecological research is conducted using remote sensing cameras, become knowledgeable about research happening in their city, and gain the skills to develop and conduct their own research project using remote camera data from city parks in Detroit.
Each module is expected to take no more than 2 hours to complete and participants will have three to four days to complete each one. The entire program will take place over a three-week period. This timing allows for interaction with other participants through an online discussion platform, and support from program staff during regularly scheduled “office hours.”
